The annual Rural Health Conferences are attended by health-care professionals, community leaders, researchers, government officials and policymakers who come together to hear from prominent speakers in the field and to share information and knowledge about the health disparities that impact rural Alabama.

Please join us as we continue our dialogue and work together to find solutions to the health issues that impact our rural and under-served citizens.

Poster Presentation

Each year, the Rural Health Conference is attended by health care professionals, community leaders, academicians, government officials, policy-makers, and representatives of faith-based organizations who gather to hear from prominent speakers and to share information and knowledge about the health disparities that impact rural Alabama. We invite you to share your work through the conference’s poster session.

Rural Health Heroes Award

The First Annual Rural Health Heroes Awards are designed to honor those unsung heroes who assisted in using their health and healing gifts after the April 27, 2011 tornadoes. These heroes will be honored at the 13th Annual Rural Health Conference to be held on Friday April 20, 2012 at The University of Alabama, Ferguson Center, sponsored by the Institute for Rural Health Research, College of Community Health Sciences.

We are accepting nominations in the following six categories:

  • Rural EMS Responders
  • Rural Primary Health Care Providers
  • Rural Community Members
  • College of Community Health Sciences (CCHS) Alumni
  • CCHS Graduate & Medical Students/Residents
  • CCHS Faculty or Staff
