Medical Students Match Into Residencies

May 6, 2020

The College of Community Health Sciences celebrated medical students who completed their clinical education at the College and were selected for residencies across the United States.

A total of 25 students matched into residencies across 11 states. Of those, four matched into family medicine residencies, four into internal medicine residencies, four into pediatric residencies and four into neurology residencies. In addition, three students matched into surgery residencies, two students into obstetrics-gynecology residencies, two students into psychiatry residencies and one student each matched into orthopedic surgery and anesthesiology residencies.

The College’s mission is to improve and promote the health of individuals and communities in Alabama and the region, and one of the ways it fulfills that mission is by addressing the primary care physician workforce needs by providing medical student clinical education (third and fourth years of medical school).

The Tuscaloosa campus joined medical students across the country’s 155 medical schools in celebrating Match Day on March 20.
