The University of Alabama's University Medical Center in Tuscaloosa is a premier academic medical center in the United States for training physicians in the practice of family medicine. It is affiliated with the University of Alabama School of Medicine, headquartered in Birmingham. Clinical services offered through the Center include family medicine, internal medicine, minor surgery, OB/GYN, occupational medicine, pediatric, neurology, and psychiatry.

Alabama Neurology & Sleep Medicine is the largest neurology group in Tuscaloosa. The group consists of six neurologists, some with subspecialty training.

Bryce Hospital is the state's oldest and largest inpatient psychiatric facility. The hospital currently has 464 beds. It serves a variety of patients in residential treatment and rehabilitation programs. Services include programs for acute care, rehabilitation, Medicaid certified adolescent inpatient care (40 beds) and extended care. Female Forensic inpatients from the northern 2/3 of the state are housed and treated at this hospital.

DCH Regional Medical Center is the cornerstone of the DCH Health System. It has the region's most advanced trauma center and intensive care units.
