Online giving campaign supports psychiatry residency

Generous supporters of the College of Community Health Sciences provided $11,241 in gifts to support the CCHS Psychiatry Residency Gift Fund during the 2026 University of Alabama Bama Blitz 48-hour online fundraising campaign April 7-9.

The gift fund provides support to the College’s University of Alabama Tuscaloosa Psychiatry Residency Program. The four-year education and training program is for medical school graduates and will prepare board-eligible residents in the field of psychiatry.

The Tuscaloosa Psychiatry Residency was accredited in 2025 and filled its six slots earlier this year. The residents will begin their training at CCHS in July.

Residents will receive rigorous training and hands-on clinical experience alongside highly skilled and experienced medical professionals across a wide range of inpatient and outpatient practice settings, including urban medical centers, smaller community facilities and rural sites.

Bama Blitz is an annual online fundraising event to advance the University that brings together alumni, faculty, staff, students and supporters who give to their favorite UA college, school or program.
