Residents and faculty of The University of Alabama Tuscaloosa Family Medicine Residency Program attended the American Academy of Family Physicians FUTURE Conference July 31-Aug. 2 in Kansas City, Mo., connecting with medical students and prospective family medicine residents from across the country.
The annual three-day event is the nation’s largest gathering of medical students and family medicine residents. The conference features workshops, presentations and an expo where attendees explore career opportunities, connect with residency programs and network with leaders and peers in the specialty.
During the conference, faculty, residents, fellows and staff from the College of Community Health Sciences, which operates the residency, highlighted the program’s broad-spectrum clinical training, dedicated faculty mentorship, fellowship opportunities and supportive learning environment. The team also shared how the program prepares physicians to provide high-quality, patient-centered care while serving the healthcare needs of Alabama communities.
“This conference gives us the opportunity to connect with students who are passionate about family medicine and share what makes our program special,” said Dr. Russ Guin, newly appointed director of the residency. “We’re proud to represent CCHS on a national stage and introduce future physicians to the outstanding training and mentorship available in Tuscaloosa.”
The UA Tuscaloosa Family Medicine Residency Program is one of the largest family medicine residency programs in the United States. Through its three-year program, residents train in both academic and community settings while developing the skills needed to become compassionate family physicians.
