The CCHS Board of Visitors is a volunteer board that includes alumni, donors, community physicians, business leaders and other supporters of the College of Community Health Sciences that works with CCHS to strengthen and support the next generation of physicians.

Dr. Gene Marsh is a retired neurologist and former dean of the College of Community Health Sciences at The University of Alabama. He grew up in Perry County, Ala., graduated from UA in 1975 and from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile in 1979. After completing his residency training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., he served in the U.S. Army for another four years. He completed a stroke fellowship at the University of Iowa in 1990 and returned to Tuscaloosa to join Neurology Consultants in private practice. Marsh gradually became more involved with CCHS through the education of residents and medical students and eventually joined the College full time as associate dean for Academic Affairs and eventually served as dean of CCHS from 2005 to 2010. In 2010, he moved to Central Pennsylvania to help Penn State College of Medicine establish a regional campus in State College. He is now retired and returned to Tuscaloosa last summer.
JacQuan Winters is a licensed realtor affiliated with Prichett-Moore Real Estate and holds the esteemed Certified Commercial Investment Member designation. He is also executive director of the Kristen Amerson Youth Foundation Inc. in Tuscaloosa, a nonprofit organization he founded after the suicide of his 11-year-old sister. In the role, Winters helps develop impactful suicide prevention programs, spearheads youth develop initiatives and oversees the foundation’s fundraising efforts. In addition, Winters serves on the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and chairs the Chamber’s Diverse Business Council. He is also a founding member and president of the Business Network International G.R.I.N.D. chapter. With expertise in community engagement and leadership, Winters has received prestigious accolades that include the United Way’s West Alabama Young Leaders Award, Tuscaloosa’s Forty under 40, and the 2021 Tuscaloosa Association of REALTORS® Rookie of the Year Award. He is also a published children’s author. Winters received a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a master’s degree in education from the University of West Alabama in Livingston.
