The Rural Health Leaders Pipeline was created to address the shortage of primary care physicians in Alabama’s rural communities by providing a pathway for rural students to pursue healthcare careers. The pipeline is a sequence of programs from high school through medical and dental school that recruit students from rural Alabama who desire to work as health-care professionals in rural communities.
