Glenn Davis, NRP, is the director of the EMS Division of the Institute for Rural Health Research. Davis, under the Alabama Department of Public Health Office of EMS, is responsible for overseeing licensure and investigation of personnel issues within the region. He also reviews resources and facilities within the 14 county West Alabama EMS region to assure top quality EMS coverage. He coordinates with agencies such as Emergency Management Agency, the Fire Service, Private, and Publicly owned ambulance services concerning emergency planning and response. He ensures that EMS agencies training and continuing education are using the most up-to-date rules, information, and procedures.
Davis received his Bachelor’s of Science from the University of Alabama and has worked in EMS for over 40 years in the West Alabama region. He has been the West Alabama EMS Director since 1993. He received his Paramedic certification from the University of Alabama and the Alabama Department of Public Health in 1978 and became nationally registered as a paramedic in 1984. He is an American Heart Association BLS, ACLS and PALS instructor and an active Regional Faculty member.
