Nelle Williams is the assistant professor and library director for the College of Community Health Sciences.
Williams is responsible for managing the daily operations of the CCHS library and works to fulfill the information needs of the medical students, residents, faculty and staff. She supervises and manages all library faculty and staff; manages the library budget and collection development and provides literature searching services.
Williams earned her bachelor’s degree in History/Integrated Science from Morehead State University and obtained her MSLS from the University of Kentucky. She has served as librarian in various medical, hospital and public libraries including the VA Medical Center in Birmingham, AL, Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, KY, and Joplin Public Library, and St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin, MO.
Williams started with the College of Community Health Sciences in 1998 as a medical information services librarian. She became the interim chief medical librarian in 1999 and was appointed as library director in February 2004. Williams was promoted to assistant professor in 2006. Special interests include library instruction, literature searching, electronic delivery of medical information, art and humanities in medical education, and consumer health. She is also a member of the Medical Library Association.
