The Rural Community Health Master’s Degree program prepares students to be health-care providers and community health leaders in rural Alabama. The program teaches principles of rural public health as a basis for community health leadership, characteristics of rural health concerns and approaches to biomedical science study through biochemistry and other science courses, while providing avenues for students to maintain rural community ties and identities and to form a supportive peer group.
