Accolades

Susan Page, proposal development administrator and grant writer with the CCHS Institute for Rural Health Research, received the 2022 Mark G. Foster Scholarship awarded by The University of Alabama Professional Staff Assembly. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a professional staff member enrolled in undergraduate or graduate courses at UA. Page is working on a master’s degree in advertising and public relations with an emphasis in marketing communication management. In her role, Page uses marketing skills to write project proposals for grant funding for health research and projects that benefit rural Alabamians. She plans to use her degree to continue to serve in the area of rural health, making a difference in the state and region. The scholarship is named for Foster, who was active in the formation of the PSA and who served as the assembly’s president in 2008-09 and chair of Assembly Operations in 2010-11.

University Medical Center achieved Participation status as a first-year submitter for the national Target: BP recognition program. Eighty-three health care organizations nationwide received Participant status as first-year submitters based on their efforts in 2021 to help patients recognize and improve blood pressure control. More than 121.5 million U.S. adults are living with high blood pressure, which can cause heart attacks and stroke. Target: BP is a national initiative formed by the American Medical Association and the American Heart Association. University Medical Center is operated by CCHS.
