Dr. Anne-Laura Cook, a native of Tuscaloosa, Ala., joined CCHS as assistant professor in the Department of Family, Internal, and Rural Medicine. She will also care for patients at UMC-Northport as an internal medicine physician, which is operated by the College. Prior to joining CCHS, Cook was a chief medical officer of Post Acute Care for Ascension Illinois in Chicago. She is a graduate of The University of Alabama, the University of Alabama School of Medicine and the Harvard School of Public Health in Cambridge, Mass. Cook brings to the College extensive experience in post-acute care and population health and has worked collaboratively with physicians and health system partners to improve the overall health of communities and to ensure that care is provided in appropriate settings. She also has interests and experience in clinical informatic and data analytics, clinical documentation improvement, utilization management and peer review. Her previous roles have included serving as medical director at VIVA Health and executive director of Population Health and Innovation at Brookwood Baptist Health in Birmingham, Ala.
Dr. Hannah Bowers joined CCHS as assistant professor in the Department of Family, Internal, and Rural Medicine. She will also care for patients as a part-time family medicine-obstetrics physician at UMC-Demopolis, which is operated by The College. Bowers graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and completed medical school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine. She graduated from the UAB Huntsville Family Medicine Residency in Huntsville, Ala., and is a recent graduate of the College’s Family Medicine Obstetrics Fellowship.
