Accolades

Dr. John Burkhardt, associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at CCHS, and Dr. Jonathan Baccus, assistant professor in the Department of Family, Internal, and Rural Medicine at CCHS, completed the University of Alabama at Birmingham Family and Community Medicine Faculty Development Fellowship. The fellowship is a 10-month program for family medicine and primary care faculty members designed to prepare them for a career in medical education through improved skills in effective teaching, scholarship, and leadership in academia and clinical practice.

Dr. Robert McKinne, MSW, LCSW, PIP, ACSW, associate professor of social work with CCHS and director of University Medical Center’s Department of Case Management and Social Services, presented “Connect: Where Love Never Forgets” for adults with memory loss. The program, operated by Christ Episcopal Church, provides fellowship and stimulation for people who have memory loss due to Alzheimer’s Disease, dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, stroke and other memory-related disorders.

Andrea Wright, MLIS, associate professor and clinical/technical services librarian with the CCHS Health Sciences Library, was named director of the library. In this role, Wright is responsible for managing the daily operations of the library. She supervises library staff, collection development, provides literature searches and fulfills the information needs of the College’s medical students, residents, faculty and staff. Wright received her bachelor’s degree in history from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, and her master’s degree in library and information sciences from The University of Alabama. Her interests include research and data management, technology and informatics services in libraries, reducing health disparities and evidence-based health care.
