Prenatal care, airway management and hypertension control were some of the topics presented at the College of Community Health Sciences Resident and Fellow Research Day, hosted May 21 by The University of Alabama Tuscaloosa Family Medicine Residency Program.
The residency, which is operated by CCHS, is a three-year education and training program for medical school graduates seeking to specialize in the practice of family medicine. The program’s curriculum includes a research component. During Research Day, residents presented their research projects and findings.
“Every year, I say what a great team I’ve had and every year, I think that it’s true,” said Dr. Louanne Friend, the residency’s assistant director for Research and Quality Improvement and associate professor of community medicine and population health with CCHS, said in opening remarks. “They’ve all done a tremendous amount of work, and I am very appreciative of what they do.”
