Dr. Sachin Shenoy, assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at CCHS, and Ashton Robinson and Sheena Khan, both fourth-year medical students at CCHS, co-authored “Inadequate perinatal asthma control resulting in status asthmaticus requiring ECMO,” published in the British Medical Journal. In its role as a regional campus of the UAB Heersink School of Medicine, CCHS provides clinical education (third and fourth years of medical school) for a portion of medical students.

Dr. Richard Giovane, assistant professor of inpatient medicine at CCHS, co-authored “Blood-borne infection prevention in combat sports guidelines” published in the Association of Ringside Physicians. The ARP focuses on the importance of screening combat sports athletes for blood-borne infections, including Hepatitis B, HIV and Hepatitis C to mitigate transmission risks and ensure participant safety.
