Six UAB Heersink School of Medicine students who are or will be completing their third and fourth years of medical school at CCHS were selected to receive the school’s Dean’s Primary Care Scholarship. The merit-based scholarship provides both financial support and enrichment opportunities for students aspiring to become physician leaders in primary care. The CCHS recipients are: Emilee Brodie (second year), Madeline Evans (third year), William Gard (third year), Ellen Gorman (fourth year), Paige Lonergan (second year) and Ciearria Samuel (fourth year). In the education of medical students, CCHS is the Tuscaloosa Regional Campus of the Heersink School of Medicine, providing the third and fourth years of medical school to a cohort of the school’s students.
Dr. Nathan Culmer, director of academic technologies and faculty development at CCHS, was selected to serve on the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) Family Medicine Scholarship Academy Task Force. STFM is a national organization comprised of academic leaders who are dedicated to preparing a strong family medicine workforce for the U.S. healthcare system. The task force promotes educational scholarship by creating structured mentorship opportunities for family medicine faculty.
