Alumni and Friends,
Whether you are looking to connect or reconnect with us or want to make a gift, we welcome you to the College of Community Health Sciences.
Ways to Give
We believe strongly in our mission to improve and promote the health of individuals in communities across the state and at The University of Alabama. Your gift provides an opportunity to further our efforts.
You can make a gift online at any time through the University’s online giving page. You can also support the College of Community Health Sciences by giving annually or by establishing an endowed or support fund.
Annual contributions provide crucial funding for our priority needs, including merit and need-based scholarships for medical students and graduate students, innovative learning experiences and additional opportunities to serve communities. Recurring gifts can be established on a monthly or yearly basis.
Friends of CCHS
Contributes to the College’s academic, clinical, scholarly and infrastructure programs, as well as the educational and professional advancement of medical students, resident physicians, faculty and staff.
Board of Visitors Student Health Center Support Fund
Provides opportunities for CCHS medical students to seek health-care support as needed. Some students have significant medical needs that often go unmet due to financial limitations, including for prescriptions and co-pays. This is the only fund of its kind designed to support students’ medical care.
CCHS General Scholarship Fund
Provides opportunities for medical students to receive the highest level of medical education.
Rural Health Scholars Gift Fund
Supports the CCHS Rural Health Leaders Pipeline, which was created to address the shortage of primary care physicians in Alabama’s rural communities.
Wallace Tobacco Center Support Fund
Supports The University of Alabama Center for the Study of Tobacco and Society, a unique historical resource housed at CCHS that is focused on the single most preventable cause of death and disease – cigarette smoking and tobacco use. The Center’s archive is the only socio-cultural resource that documents tobacco issue from all vantage points, from public health and anti-smoking strategies, to the social, agricultural, economic and promotional aspects.
For more information about annual giving, contact Julia Martin, college and external relations coordinator, at jmartin@ua.edu.
Endowed gifts are invested and managed by The University of Alabama in perpetuity. The gifts establish a legacy of learning, research and scholarship as they extend the impact of a donor’s generosity well beyond a lifetime. Endowments can be established with a one-time gift or over a five-year period.
For more information about endowments, planned gifts or support funds, contact Taylor Mooney, associate director for development, at taylor.mooney@ua.edu.
Board of Visitors
The CCHS Board of Visitors strives to create close working relationships among providers and consumers of health care in Alabama and the nation with the leadership, faculty, staff, resident physicians and medical students at the College of Community Health Sciences. The Board also serves as an advisory group for the CCHS dean.
We welcome and are actively recruiting new Board members. If you are interested in joining the Board, or have questions, please contact Julia Martin at jmartin@ua.edu.
