Recipients of Humanism in Medicine Award recognized at UAB Medical School graduation

Dr. Lexie Rasco, a medical student who completed her clinical education at the College of Community Health Sciences, and College adjunct faculty Dr. Chris Roney, received the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine’s graduation ceremony May 20.

CCHS serves as a regional campus of the UAB Heersink of Medicine in the clinical education and training of medical students.

The Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award is presented annually by The Arnold P. Gold Foundation and recognizes graduating medical students and faculty members who are exemplars of humanism in the care of patients. Participating medical schools select one graduating medical student and faculty member each year. The award includes a certificate and check for up to $500. Recipients also become inducted as lifelong members of the Gold Humanism Honor Society.
