Heather Taylor, MD
Professor
Dr. Heather Taylor is a professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the College of Community Health Sciences and director of the College’s Pediatric Clerkship.
Taylor is a board-certified general pediatrician with special interests in the prevention of obesity, newborn screening initiatives and medical student education.
She received a bachelor’s degree in English from The University of Alabama and earned her medical degree at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. She completed a pediatric residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Taylor is active in both the state and national chapters of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is a member of the Alabama Newborn Screening Advisory Committee. She has won numerous awards for her teaching of medical students and family medicine residents and was the 2012 faculty recipient of the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award.
