Dr. Shawnna Ogden is an assistant professor in the Department of Family, Internal, and Rural Medicine with the College of Community Health Sciences. She also cares for patients at University Medical Center's Family Medicine Clinic, Betty Shirley/Psychiatry Clinic and the UA Faculty and Staff Wellness Clinic. UMC is operated by CCHS. Ogden received a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and a master’s degree in Biomedical Science from Barry University in Miami Shores, Fla. She received her medical degree from St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies, and completed her family medicine residency training at LSU Health Sciences Center’s Family Medicine Residency in Monroe, La. As a resident, Ogden was awarded the Family Medicine Resident Award for Advocacy for persistent efforts to represent family medicine at a state level. After residency, Ogden completed a behavioral health fellowship at CCHS. The fellowships trains family medicine physicians to better care for patients with mental health and psychiatric concerns.
