Mallory Scogin, MD, MPH, FACOG

Assistant Professor


Dr. Mallory Scogin is an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a practicing physician at University Medical Center, which is operated by the College.

Scogin received a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from The University of Alabama and a Master of Public Health degree in Health Care Organization and Policy from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She earned her medical degree at the University of Alabama School of Medicine and completed her residency at the University at Buffalo in Buffalo, N.Y., where she served as Health and Wellness Chief Resident and head of the resident mentoring program in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a member of the Association of Professors of Gynecology & Obstetrics, and a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Scogin’s research interests include quality improvement projects related to prenatal and postpartum care. She co-authored “A Call for Improved Fourth Trimester Care After Stillbirth,” published in the Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic & Neonatal Nursing in 2023 and “Assessing health-related quality of life in children with spina bifida,” published in the Journal of Neurosurgery: Pediatrics in 2015. She was the 2019 recipient of the Kent Crickard MD Award in recognition of knowledge and commitment to continued education in the field of reproductive medicine. She is a member of Women of the Capstone and is one of the CCHS Faculty Senators, serving on the Student Life and IRB-Medical Committees.
