Mercedes Morales-Aleman, PhD
Associate Professor, Program Director
Dr. Morales-Alemán is an associate professor with the Department of Community Medicine and Population Health in the College of Community Health Sciences at The University of Alabama. Her research focuses on sexual health and health care access among ethnic minority women in the United States South. She earned her doctoral degree in Community Psychology from Michigan State University and completed her postdoctoral training at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her studies have been funded by the National Center for Advancing Translational Science, National Institute for Nursing Research and the Health Resources and Services Administration. Morales-Alemán is also director of the Master of Science in Population Health Sciences Program at CMPH/CCHS. She teaches courses in Qualitative Research Methods and Health Equity. She also advises medical students doing their third and fourth years at CCHS, a regional campus of the UAB Heersink School of Medicine. Morales-Alemán has served on the editorial board of the Journal of Adolescent Health since 2022.
