Dr. Bob McKinney, associate professor of social work at CCHS and director of the Office of Case Management and Social Services at University Medical Center, received the Quality Matters Certification Mark for the design quality of his online course, Clinical Supervision & Ethics, which he teaches to UA School of Social Work doctoral students. Quality Matters uses a peer review process to certify the design of online courses to ensure quality education and student learning. McKinney is the first faculty member at CCHS to have his course QM-certified. His certification is recognition of his dedication to continuous improvement and ensuring students achieve desired learning outcomes. For more information about Quality Matters, visit here.

Dr. Pamela Payne-Foster, professor of community medicine and population health at CCHS, was selected to receive the 2024 University of Alabama at Birmingham Minority Health & Health Equity Research Center Excellence in Mentoring Award. MHERC works to generate research knowledge from biomedical, behavioral and social sciences to reduce health disparities in disadvantaged populations and communities through local, regional and national platforms. The award recognizes those who provided outstanding mentoring and contributed greatly to the career development and retention of students and scholars participating in the MHERC Research and Training Programs. Payne-Foster will be presented with the award on April 2 at the UAB MHERC Health Equity Research Symposium Luncheon.

Drs. Jane and Tom Weida, professors in family, internal and rural medicine at CCHS, were named Castle Connolly Top Doctors for 2024. Doctors on the Castle Connolly list represent the top 7% of U.S. practicing physicians, and the list seeks to help patients find high-quality care by connecting them with premier physicians.
