John McDonald, MD

Dr John McDonald, associate professor and chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, has been with the College of Community Health Sciences since 2008. He completed his undergraduate and graduate studies in accounting at The University of Alabama. He completed his medical degree at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham and his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of South Alabama in Mobile.
McDonald has provided obstetrics and gynecology services to women in the West Alabama area for more than 18 years. He is involved in a variety of scholarly projects related to women and infant health. McDonald has been a co-presenter at a number of regional and national conferences and has participated in a National Board of Medical Examiners standard setting panel. He serves on several University and hospital committees including The University of Alabama Institutional Review Board and the Admissions Committee at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
