Martha Crowther, PhD, MPH
Associate Dean, Research and Health Policy
Dr. Martha Crowther serves as associate dean for Research and Health Policy for the College of Community Health Sciences and as chair of its Department of Community Medicine and Population Health. She is a professor in the College’s departments of Community Medicine and Population Health and Family, Internal, and Rural Medicine. She provides behavioral health care to patients at University Medical Center.
Prior to joining the College, Crowther held faculty positions in The University of Alabama Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences, where she also directed the Clinical Psychology Program. She holds appointments as a Faculty Scholar at the Alabama Research Institute on Aging, and as a Scientist at the Center for Healthy Aging in the Department of Medicine/Division of Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Crowther earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The University of California-Berkley. She received a master’s degree in Public Health with a focus on chronic disease epidemiology from Yale University. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Duke University. Crowther completed a clinical internship and was a postdoctoral fellow at the U.S. Veteran’s Administration Palo Alto Health Care System.
