Director of Education and Evaluation


Dr. Antonio J. Gardner is an associate professor in the Department of Community Medicine and Population Health with the College of Community Health Sciences and director of Education and Evaluation for CCHS Rural Programs. He teaches courses for the Rural Medical Scholars Program, the Rural Community Health Scholars Program and the Master of Science in Population Health Sciences degree program. He received his PhD in Health Education and Health Promotion from The University of Alabama, his master's degree in General Human Environmental Sciences with a specialization in Rural Community Health from UA, and a bachelor's degree in Biology from Alabama A&M University. Gardner’s research interests are in health equity with a specific focus on improved quality of life of rural and/or African American populations.
