Thomas J. Weida, MD
Associate Dean Clinical Affairs
Dr. Thomas Wedia is associate dean for Clinical Affairs for the College of Community Health Sciences and chief medical officer for University Medical Center, which the College operates. He is also a professor in the College's Department of Family, Internal, and Rural Medicine.
Weida earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Penn., and Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital in Philadelphia. He completed his family medicine residency at Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, Penn. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, and holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Geriatric Medicine.
After 14 years in private practice in rural Pennsylvania, Weida joined the faculty at the Penn State Hershey College of Medicine in Hershey, Penn., obtaining the rank of professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine. While there, he served as medical director of the Penn State Hershey Medical Group and as medical director for Information Technology for the Department of Family Medicine at Hershey Medical Center.
Weida is active in professional organizations. He has served on the American Academy of Family Physicians board of directors and as the AAFP representative to the American Medical Association’s Relative Value Update Committee.
