Associate Professor, Assistant Residency Director
Dr. Louanne Friend is an associate professor in the Department of Community Medicine and Population Health at the College of Community Health Sciences. She is also the assistant residency director for Research and Quality Improvement for The University of Alabama Tuscaloosa Family Medicine Residency Program, one of the largest and oldest family medicine residencies in the country. Friend's expertise includes cardiovascular critical care, emergency department risk management and nursing leadership. Her funded research targets the screening, diagnosis and treatment of hypertension in Alabama. In addition to her research publications, Friend has authored book chapters related to nursing theory and nursing leadership.
