Andrea Wright, MLIS
Health Sciences Library Director, Associate Professor
Andrea Wright, MLIS, is associate professor and director of the Health Sciences Library at the College of Community Health Sciences. In addition to managing the library's services, collection and strategic planning, she supports evidence-based practice in the clinical environment, providing access to the latest research to support patient care. She also collaborates in research and publishing efforts at the College, provides instructional support in research and evidence-based medicine, and manages online access to library resources.
Wright earned her master's degree in Library and Information Studies from The University of Alabama and a bachelor's degree in history from the University of North Alabama in Florence. Before coming to CCHS as a clinical and technical services librarian, she spent nine years offering research support and evidence-based medicine education as a technology and information services librarian and reference coordinator at the University of South Alabama Biomedical Library in Mobile, and she served a number of years as digital projects librarian at UA Libraries. In 2014, Wright received a Georgia/National Library of Medicine Biomedical Informatics Fellowship. Her interests include health information literacy, technology and informatics services in libraries, reducing health disparities, and evidence-based health care. She is a member of the Medical Library Association, the Southern Chapter of the Medical Library of Medicine and the Alabama Health Libraries.
