Five residents of The University of Alabama Tuscaloosa Family Medicine Residency Program were named chief residents for the 2022-23 academic year.

The new chief residents and their leadership roles:

“Congratulations to our new chiefs,” said Dr. Tamer Elsayed, residency director. “We look forward to working with you as we advance our mission of excellent service to our patients, and as we train residents for full-spectrum primary care practice to serve Alabama and the Southeast region.”

The new chief residents start in these roles July 1. They replace Drs. Jake Guin, Tameka Hairston, Ellen Lorenzen, Jordan Pharris and Josh Price, chief residents for the 2021-22 academic year.

“Many thanks for our current chiefs for leading through tough times and uncertainty during the (COVID-19) pandemic. I applaud you for leading by example and making our residency a better place for all,” Elsayed said.
