New Director of Nursing Hired

Yvette Daidone, MSN, RN-BC, joined the College of Community Health Sciences as director of nursing for University Medical Center, which the College operates. Her responsibilities include serving as chief nursing officer, improving workflow, standardizing processes and procedures and implementing quality improvement activities.

Before joining the College, Daidone was a quality management specialist at DCH Health System in Tuscaloosa, where she was responsible for performance improvement, management of resources and improving quality metrics.

She has 34 years of health care experience in Alabama.

Daidone earned a Master of Science in nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is certified in Nursing Professional Development through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Her nursing experience includes obstetrics and gynecology, labor and delivery, nursing research, nursing education and nursing operations. She has also held positions in nursing management and administration.

Daidone has been published in the Journal of Nursing Administration for her research in academic and service partnerships for rural hospitals. She has presented across the country on nursing during crisis situations, and nursing residency recruiting practices.

She has provided oversight for clinical nurse educators in acute care, critical care, obstetrics and gynecology, neonatal services, pediatrics and emergency care. During her tenure as the nurse residency coordinator in the DCH Health System, she negotiated the agreement with The University of Alabama to allow nurses participating in the DCH Nurse Residency Program to earn credit toward a Bachelor of Science in nursing.
