Cynthia Moore is assistant director of the Rural Scholars Program in the Department of Family, Internal, and Rural Medicine. In that role, Moore is responsible for coordinating and implementing activities for the Rural Health Scholars Program and the Rural Minority Health Scholars Program. She also serves as an advisor and mentor to students in the programs. Moore received her bachelor’s degree in Health Care Management from The University of Alabama. In 2009, she received the first-ever Award for Excellence in Advising given by UA’s Office of Academic Affairs. A year earlier, she received the UA President’s Award for Outstanding Service to the UA Black Faculty and Staff Association. She is a long-time member of the National Association of Medical Minority Educators and is the advisor to the Minority Association of Pre-health Students at UA. She also is the advisor to UA’s Afro-American Gospel Choir.
