LaKeshia Whigham is a program assistant for the Rural Scholars Programs in the Department of Family, Internal, and Rural Medicine. She provides staff and administrative support for the various programs that make up the Rural Scholars Programs, including the Rural Health Scholars, Rural Minority Health Scholars, West Alabama Health Scholars, Rural Community Health Scholars and Rural Medical Scholars programs. Whigham participated in the Rural Health Scholars, Rural Minority Health Scholars and Rural Science Scholars programs as a high school student. While a student at The University of Alabama, she worked as a student assistant and summer counselor for the Rural Scholars Programs, and served as a mentor in the inaugural class of the UA Emerging Scholars Program. She graduated from UA with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
