Anne-Laura Cook — Assistant Professor

Dr. Anne-Laura Cook, an internal medicine physician, is assistant professor in the Department of Family, Internal, and Rural Medicine. She also cares for patients at UMC-Northport, which is operated by the College. Prior to joining CCHS, Cook was a chief medical officer of post-acute care for Ascension Illinois in Chicago. She is a graduate of The University of Alabama, the University of Alabama School of Medicine and the Harvard School of Public Health. Cook brings to the College and University Medical Center extensive experience in post-acute care and population health and has worked collaboratively with physicians and health system partners to improve the overall health of communities and to ensure that care is provided in appropriate settings. She also has interests and experience in clinical informatics and data analytics, clinical documentation improvement, utilization management and peer review. Her previous roles have included serving as medical director at VIVA Health and executive director of Population Health and Innovation at Brookwood Baptist Health in Birmingham, Ala.
