Angela Hammond, MSN, CRNP, CDCE — Nurse Practitioner

Angela Hammond, MSN, CRNP, CDCES, has been a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner since 1994. She has practiced since 2006 at University Medical Center and provides care for University of Alabama employees and their families in the Faculty-Staff Clinic. She has been a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) since 2012, completed a Fellowship in Nurse Leadership from Duke University in 2014 and earned a Certificate in Travel Medicine™ in 2019. She earned a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Huntsville and a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from The University of Alabama. She began her practice in a rural health clinic in Grenada, Miss., where she practiced for 10 years and then relocated to Tuscaloosa in 2004, where she spent two years in a private family medicine clinic and gastroenterology practice. She also previously served as the director of nursing at UMC and as coordinator for diabetes education for the Department of Family Medicine at the UA College of Community Health Sciences. Her areas of interest include healthy lifestyle medicine and preventive health care. Honors include receiving the Outstanding Graduate Preceptor-UA Capstone College of Nursing in 2018, and the Outstanding Nurse Practitioner West Alabama Regional award in 2015.
