Plans underway for 45th anniversary celebration of UA Family Medicine Residency

March 2, 2020

“Our alumni are incredibly important to us. We want them always to be a part of the CCHS community,” said Dr. Richard Friend, dean of The University of Alabama College of Community Health Sciences.

To that end, plans are underway for a UA Family Medicine Residency Reunion Weekend August 28-30, 2020, in Tuscaloosa. The event will celebrate the 45th anniversary of the residency (formerly the Tuscaloosa Family Medicine Residency), as well as the more than 500 residency alumni who have graduated from the program. CCHS operates the residency.

The reunion will feature a family-friendly welcome dinner Friday evening; Continuing Medical Education activities Saturday morning and a gala and awards dinner Saturday evening; and a farewell brunch Sunday morning. Alumni will have opportunities to reconnect and reminisce with former residency classmates, learn how the residency has grown and changed in the years since they graduated, and visit their favorite Tuscaloosa hangouts from their residency days.
