Student Health Center Re-Accredited

July 9, 2021

The University of Alabama Student Health Center and Pharmacy, which is operated by the UA’s College of Community Health Sciences, was re-accredited again for another three years.

The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care re-accredited the Student Health Center for the period April 1, 2021, to March 31, 2024. The continuing accreditation designates the center a premier student health center in the state of Alabama.

“Achieving accreditation demonstrates a commitment to continuous improvement in patient care,” said Dr. Amelia de los Reyes, director of Quality Improvement and Clinical Health Informatics for the Student Health Center. “Accreditation tells our patients that the Student Health Center and Pharmacy are committed to providing safe, effective and high-quality care, time after time.”

Accreditation is awarded upon successful completion of an on-site survey, which was done at the Student Health Center on April 21-22, 2021. The on-site survey is conducted by a specially trained surveyor who assesses the organization’s compliance to its written standards.

The Student Health Center and Pharmacy has been accredited since 1995.
