Mission
Develop and implement a research strategy that promotes the College of Community Health Sciences as a leading hub for scholarly training in patient-centered medical research and population health. CCHS will provide the infrastructure, leadership, training and resources to promote integrated scholarly activity, enhance research productivity and increase external funding of research programs throughout the College and The University of Alabama.
Research Steps
The CCHS Research Review Group is dedicated to evaluating research proposals from both internal and external investigators. Our goal is to collaborate effectively to facilitate the approval of these proposals, thereby enabling data collection within the College. The review group is made up of our associate dean for research, chief nursing officer, director of medical records and privacy, health information technology director, assistant residency director research and quality improvement and proposal development Specialist.

Community Engaged Research
Community engaged research is a collaborative process between researchers and community partners that creates and disseminates knowledge with the goal of contributing to the discipline and strengthening the well-being of the community.

Does my mentor need to review my abstract?
Yes. All applicants must have their faculty research mentor review and approve the abstract prior to submission.
Can I present research with a faculty mentor who is not from UA?
Yes. You will be asked to provide the mentor’s name and department of in the submission form and confirm that they have reviewed your abstract
How will my presentation be judged?
All presentations will be evaluated during the in-person sessions. Each presenter will be reviewed by a panel of 2–3 judges using the official (See Rubric).
Where can I print my poster?
Posters uploaded to UA Box by the deadline of midnight on Monday, Nov 3rd will be courtesy printed by CCHS-CMPH (limit: one poster per person). Once your poster is ready, CMPH will notify you via email with pickup details.
If you miss the deadline, you will need to arrange your printing through UA Printing Services. Please note this may involve additional costs.
If you prefer, you may choose to print your poster at a print shop of your choice without uploading it to UA Box. However, you’ll be responsible for all associated costs and logistics, including file preparation and pickup.
3MT
3MT presentations will occur from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm on RSA Day. The selected 3MT presenters will receive their assigned presentation times no later than November 6, 2025. Selected 3MT presenters must submit their presentations to Dr. Antonio Gardner at gardn039@ua.edu by 5:00 pm on November 10, 2025, for the competition.
Although each 3MT presentation is just 3 minutes, we encourage all presenters to stay for the full hour to support fellow competitors.
