Graduating Fellows

NICOLE DENISE ARTHUR, MD • OBSTETRICS FELLOW
Nicole Arthur, MD, received her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of South Carolina. Arthur earned her medical degree from the Medical University of Lublin in Poland and completed her residency at AnMed Health Family Medicine Residency. Her special interest is Women’s Health, and she plans to practice in Bay Minette, Alabama.
 

ALEXIS TANISHIA MASON, MD  BEHAVIORAL HEALTH FELLOW
Alexis Mason, MD, earned a bachelor’s degree in science from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University. Mason earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine and completed her residency at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center. She will practice in Gordo, Alabama.

BYRON OSWALDO MATA GONZALEZ, MD  HOSPITALIST FELLOW
Byron Gonzalez, MD, is from Ecuador, where he earned his medical degree from Catholic University School of Medicine. Gonzalez completed his residency at Family Medicine Residency in Puerto Rico, and a geriatrics fellowship at Loyola University Hospital. He is currently a hospitalist at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and plans to practice in Atlanta, Georgia.

BOGDAN STRAMBU, MD • HOSPITALIST FELLOW
Bogdan Strambu, MD, was born in Romania, where he earned his medical degree from University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj Napoca. Strambu completed his residency at the University Transylvanaia Family Medicine Residency in Brasov, Romania. His special interest is in hospital medicine and sleep medicine, and he plans to practice in Greenville, South Carolina.

ANTOANELA ZAHARIA, MD  HOSPITALIST FELLOW
Antoanela Zaharia, MD, is from Romania, where she received her medical degree from Carol Davila School of Medicine and Pharmacy. She completed her residency at The University of Alabama Family Medicine Residency. Zaharia’s special interest is outpatient medicine.

MATTHEW DAVID ANDRES, DO • SPORTS MEDICINE FELLOW
Matthew Andres, DO, is from Redding, California, and earned his bachelor’s degree in neurobiology, physiology, and behavior from the University of California-Davis. Andres earned his medical degree from Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at Mercy Family Medicine. His special interest is sports medicine, and he will be joining an orthopaedic practice in Pocatello, Idaho, and serve as head team physician for Idaho State University.

CARL HUNTER RUSSELL, MD • SPORTS MEDICINE FELLOW
Hunter Russell, MD, is from Moody, Alabama, and earned his bachelor’s degree in biology at Birmingham Southern College. He received a master’s degree from The University of Alabama, earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, and completed his residency at The University of Alabama Family Medicine Residency. Russell’s special interest is pediatric injury prevention, and he will practice in Pell City, Alabama.

Graduating Residents

CHANDRA REKHA AMERICHETTY, MD
Chandra Americhetty, MD, is from Jersey City, New Jersey, and earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She earned her medical degree from the Medical University of the Americas in Nevis, West Indies. She plans to take a month off to travel before starting her practice.

SIRISHA CHADA, MD
Sirisha Chada, MD, is from Columbus, Ohio, and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Osmania University in Hyderabad, India. She completed medical school at the American University of Antigua in Antigua and Barbuda. She will practice at St. Vincent’s Primary Care – Outpatient Family Medicine Clinic in Gardendale, Alabama.

MARY MARGARET CLAPP, MD
Mary Margaret Clapp, MD, is from Maplesville, Alabama, and earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology and management information systems from the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama. She completed medical school at the University of South Alabama in Mobile. Clapp will practice family medicine at Whatley Health Services in Gordo, Alabama.

JASON LEE CLEMONS, MD
Jason Clemons, MD, is from Florence, Alabama, and earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.  He received a master’s degree in human environmental sciences as a Rural Medical Scholar from The University of Alabama. Clemons earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. Clemons will practice outpatient family medicine at Baptist Health Center in Talladega, Alabama.

ERIC JAMES CURLEY, MD
Eric Curley, MD, a native of Waco, Texas, earned his bachelor’s degree in genetics from Texas A&M University in College Station, where he also earned a master’s degree in health administration. Curley completed medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas. Curley will practice emergency medicine at Northport Medical Center in Northport, Alabama.

TIMOTHY SCOTT ECKFORD, MD
Timothy Eckford, MD, is from Campbell River, British Columbia, and received his bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Victoria in British Columbia. He earned his master’s degree in hyperbaric medicine from Saba University in the Netherlands Antilles, where he also completed medical school. Eckford has a special interest in dermatology and will practice inpatient and outpatient family medicine at Northeastern Rural Health Clinic in Susanville, California.

MICHAEL DANIEL GABRIEL, MD
Michael Gabriel, MD, is from Scranton, Pennsylvania, and earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Fordham University in New York City. He completed medical school at Commonwealth Medical College in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Gabriel will complete a Hospice and Palliative Care Fellowship at Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut.

KATIE MARIE GATES, MD
Katie Gates, MD, is from Oxford, Alabama, and earned her bachelor’s in biology from The University of Alabama, where she also completed a master’s degree in human environmental sciences as a Rural Medical Scholar. Gates completed medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. Her special interests are emergency medicine and clinical procedures, and she will practice family medicine at University Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

MAYSOON HAMED, MD
Maysoon Hamed, MD, is from Cairo, Egypt, and received her master’s in health sciences degree at the University of Cairo, where she also completed medical school. Hamed’s special interests are women’s health and critical care. She plans to practice family medicine at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.

AMBREEN MARDHANI, MD
Ambreen Mardhani, MD, is from Memphis, Tennessee, and received her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Rhodes College in Memphis. She earned her medical degree at the American University of Antigua in Antigua and Barbuda. Mardhani’s special interest is preventive medicine, and she will practice outpatient family medicine at Piedmont Physicians in Canton, Georgia.

BHAVIKA RAJANIKANT PATEL, MD
Bhavika Patel, MD, is from Alpharetta, Georgia, and earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Georgia in Athens. She completed medical school at the American University of Antigua in Antigua and Barbuda. Her special interest is rural and community medicine. Patel will complete the Iora Health – Health Innovation and Leadership Fellowship, where she will pursue a master’s degree in health care delivery sciences from Dartmouth College with a focus on obesity prevention and improving the healthcare system.

GEORGE LYCURGLUS PETTY, MD
George Petty, MD, is from Ethelsville, Alabama, and received a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from Mississippi State University in Starkville. He received his medical degree from the University of South Alabama in Mobile. Petty will practice emergency medicine at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi.

JERRY YUE SHEN, MD
Jerry Shen, MD, is from Tucson, Arizona, and attended the University of Arizona in Tucson, where he received a bachelor’s degree in biosystems engineering. He completed medical school at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Shen will practice at Tuscon Medical Center – Outpatient Family Medicine Clinic in Tucson, Arizona.

ROSS ALEXANDER SUMMERFORD, MD
Ross Summerford, MD, of Falkville, Alabama, received a bachelor’s degree in biology from The University of Alabama and a master’s degree in human environmental sciences as a Rural Medical Scholar. He earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. Summerford has a special interest in sports medicine and will practice outpatient family medicine and urgent care at Madison Community Urgent Care in Madison, Alabama.
