Tuscaloosa Rural Pre-Medical Internship

Application Process

The Rural Pre-medical Internship is conducted at both the Tuscaloosa Regional Campus, which is operated by The University of Alabama College of Community Health Sciences, and the Huntsville Regional Medical Campus. In their roles as providers of medical student education, both regional campuses are part of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Marinex E. Heersink School of Medicine. Only one application needs to be submitted even if a student is interested in both campuses. Students may indicate campus preference on the application.

May 26 – July 12, 2024	May 28 – July 12, 2024

To qualify for the program, applicants should:

• Have completed a minimum of four semesters of college coursework
• Have an overall GPA of a 3.2 or higher
• Have at least the minimum score on any of the following:
  • ACT – 22
  • SAT – 1200
  • MCAT – 492
  • Be a resident of rural Alabama. Rural Alabama residents attending out of state institutions are welcome to apply.

The application period is Nov. 27, 2023 through Feb. 2, 2024.
