Our Pharmacy is conveniently located inside the Student Health Center lobby, just steps from our clinic. Typical wait time is just 15 minutes, so check out our pharmacy hours.
The Student Health Center Pharmacy carries a small selection of over the counter items available for purchase. These items will be billed to the student’s account.
Antacids/Gastrointestinal
We recommend all students have a first aid kit available to them on campus. For our list, see the First Aid Kit page.
Our Pharmacists are available to offer counseling (free of charge) to discuss your medications, health concerns or to recommend OTC products to treat short-term illnesses that don’t require a doctor’s visit.
SHC Pharmacy can fill any legal prescription for current students who present their ID. Students should also present their insurance card at the time of fill. Prescriptions may be from outside providers as well as from our own clinic. We accept written, call-in, fax, and E-Script prescriptions. If the student has current refills at another pharmacy, we will be glad to transfer the prescriptions to our pharmacy.

We accept Flex Benefit Cards or we can bill charges to the student’s account, which is payable through Student Receivables or MyBama. We are also capable of billing most major commercial insurances.
The Student Health Center Pharmacy can process most commercial insurances. We submit claims to the insurance provider and bill the copay to the student’s account or to their Flexible Spending Card. If the student’s insurance is not one that we have contract with, the student will have the option to bill their student account with the full amount and try to file a paper claim with their insurance on their own.
The University of Alabama offers a student insurance plan. For more information, please see our University Sponsored Health Insurance page.
