- to quality healthcare and to be treated with respect, consideration, and dignity.
- to be treated in a manner that does not discriminate against any person because of age, ancestry, color, disability or handicap, national origin, race, religious creed, sex, sexual orientation, or veteran’s status.
- to privacy during medical care.
- to confidentiality of all communications and confidentiality of your medical record and the right to approve or refuse release of information to the fullest extent provid3ed by the law.
- to participate in decisions concerning your health, such as:
- Advanced Directives according to prevailing laws or regulations;
- a second opinion / referral / refusal of recommendations for medical care;
- request a specific healthcare professional.
- to accurate information concerning diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of an illness or health-related condition.
- to refuse to participate in any research program.
You have the responsibility to…
- to arrive as scheduled for appointments and to notify the Student Health Center and Pharmacy in advance in case of canceled appointments.
- to provide complete and accurate information about your illness or problem, your medications/over the counter medications, supplements as well as allergies and sensitivities.
- to ask sufficient questions to ensure that your understand your illness or problem as well as your provider’s recommendation for continuing care.
- to communicate with your provider sufficiently to ensure you understand your illness/problem, the recommendations for treatment and continuing care, as well as if you do not respond to treatment satisfactorily so that your care is optimized.
- to either follow treatment and education recommendations or accept responsibility for the outcome.
- to become informed about the scope of basic services offered, their costs and the necessity of additional medical insurance, if applicable.
- to communicate with your healthcare provider if you do not respond to treatment satisfactorily.
- to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
- to behave respectfully to all health care professionals and staff, as well as other patients and visitors.
