Family, Internal, and Rural Medicine
Bonnie Pennington, BS, is a program assistant for the Rural Medical Scholars Program in the Department of Family, Internal, and Rural Medicine. She provides staff support for that program, and for other programs and personnel within the pipeline of Rural Scholars programs. Pennington earned a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education Mathematics from The University of Alabama. She previously served as program assistant and project manager at UA’s Capstone College of Nursing for a Health Resources and Services Administration Advanced Nursing Education grant, which supported the MSN Nurse Practitioner Concentration in Mental Health and Primary Care for Rural Populations. Her professional experience also includes financial advising compliance and academic instruction for students in grades nine through 12.
